Murray Bridge
Race 2 – Anecdotal
Jockey – Jacob Opperman
900m – Barrier 4
Speedy galloper Anecdotal looks to go one better than his previous two starts in the 900-metre scamper at Murray Bridge today. The gelded son of Magnus was a narrow runner-up at Swan Hill last time out, just nabbed in the final bound by Dobkins, who ran soundly at Caulfield last Saturday. Jockey Jaco Opperman leaves from barrier four and can let his galloper stride in the early parts, looking to control the race from the outset and keep kicking to the post.
Six of the twelve starters make their debuts this afternoon, making a somewhat murky speed map, however expect Rich Lady to challenge Anecdotal for the top from gate three, while Radiant Knight can box-seat from barrier two throughout. Rich Lady is the obvious danger to Anecdotal, similarly runner-up at her past two starts at Oakbank and Balaklava. She’s a five-year-old lining up for her twenty-first start but has placed ten times in her career. As always, each way claims for her. Another Bride was held together when narrowly beaten in her latest jumpout, where she did show good early speed. Drawn ideally and could be the pick of the first-starters. Next best. Each way claims to Elegant Lily, Radiant Knight and Major Rumble.
Anecdotal has gone very close at his past couple and looks to have the speed to hold the front today. Opperman can let him roll throughout and he can give them all something to catch late. Strong claims.
Currently, Anecdotal is a $2.50 chance in the market.
