Swan Hill
Race 3 – Ms Hubble
Jockey – Neil Farley
1300m – Barrier 11
Deep Field filly Ms Hubble is first-up since July when she heads to Swan Hill this afternoon. The three-year-old galloper has had two jumpouts since returning, a long way off them at Ballarat before a better effort at Avoca eleven days ago. Jockey Neil Farley jumps from an outside gate and will drift back in the early parts, looking to wind up and hit the line late over 1300-metres.
Speed is drawn inside with Montrock and Of The View to contest the lead in the early parts, while Mark’s Magus and All Too True can look to box seat behind the leaders. Skinny race. Of The View was sound when runner-up on debut at Benalla four weeks ago, given every chance behind the leader and eventual winner but outsprinted over 1100-metres. Up in trip will suit and has won a trial between runs. Looks the one to beat. Mr Bannock is on debut here, showing ability at the jumpouts and draws for a soft run from gate six. No surprise to see a forward showing, next best. Each way chances to Breakless, who is on the week back-up from a good effort at Echuca, and Gregarious Girl, who is third-up after a pair of sound runs this campaign.
Ms Hubble will improve on whatever she does today, likely to get a long way back in the run from a wide draw. Her jumpouts have been only fair, but she’ll get every chance to hit the line late with an eye to a more forward showing second-up.
Currently, Ms Hubble is a $16 chance in the market.
Swan Hill
Race 7 – Macocha
Jockey – Jack Hill
1300m – Barrier 6
Street Boss filly Macocha is a month between runs when she heads to Swan Hill this afternoon. The three-year-old galloper has been around the mark in three runs this calendar year, hitting the line well at Bendigo last time out, albeit without looking the winner at any stage. Jockey Jack Hill leaves from gate six today and can land midfield or better with cover from the outset, before finishing off in the long run home.
A few will look for the top early on here, with Artistic Dancer and Sanctimonious to punch forward from low draws, while expect Wareo Road and Jackie Moon to roll across from wider out and settle forward in the run. Wareo Road has been good in three runs this campaign, coming back in grade for today’s race. Blinkers on and out to 1300-metres are both in his favour on his home track, shapes as hardest to beat. Artistic Dancer draws to find the front and control the race. She’s second-up off a sound effort at Wangaratta and will be in this for a long way. Next best. Each way chances to Sugar And Sweet, who draws for a soft trail behind the speed, and Torn, who will be the late closer.
Macocha finds a suitable race this afternoon and draws for the right run throughout. Hill can have plenty of horse left straightening for home and look to find the right part of the track to get out and chasing in the home straight. With even luck, she can be winning this.
Currently, Macocha is a $5.50 chance in the market.
