Warrnambool
Race 3 – Black Cherry
Jockey – Yoshi Kamomiya
1000m – Barrier 3
Three-year-old filly Black Cherry kicks off her preparation over 1000-metres at Warrnambool today. The daughter of Brazen Beau was okay at this trip on debut in September before a plain effort sent her to the paddock soon after. A recent jumpout suggests she’s returned in good order, jockey Yoshi Kamomiya able to let his filly settle where comfortable in the run, looking to finish the race off in the closing stages.
Just eight runners here with three first-starters engaged, so the early speed is tricky. Of the raced, expecting Immortal Justice, Fox Man and Nebuchadnezzar to all go forward from the outset and be among the first turning for home in what may be a steadily-run affair. Nebuchadnezzar has placed in five of seven career starts, sent out favourite on four of those occasions. He should get every favour in the run and does present as hardest to beat, but you’d be brave to take the short odds. Debutant Jahangir has shown ability at the jumpouts and could be the late closer. Drawn wide and likely to go back, no surprise to see him go close. Fox Man next best.
Black Cherry can find cover in the second half of the field and look to close the race out strongly. She’ll be better for the run today, but a top four finish wouldn’t shock.
Currently, Blac Cherry is a $41 chance in the market.

Race 7 – Flying Celica
Jockey – Yoshi Kamomiya
1700m – Barrier 1
Toronado mare Flying Celica comes back to 1700-metres at Warrnambool this afternoon. The four-year-old galloper was good at Kyneton last start, looking the winner in the home straight before finishing fourth in a busy finish. Jockey Yoshi Kamomiya leaves from the inside alley today, able to settle behind the speed before looking to finish off in the home straight.
Dark Harmony looks the likely leader from gate three, while expect Maatsuyker and Whistler Girl to roll forward in the early parts. Prince Of Byron was solid at Pakenham last start at 2000-metres, beaten under two lengths in what appears a stronger field. Back to 1700-metres today and draws for a soft trail throughout. Hardest to beat. Zibulon resumes here having shown ability in his first Australian preparation. Straight to this trip suits and no surprise to see him thereabouts. Each way chances to Dark Harmony, who rises in grade following a last start win, and So She Can Fly, who comes back in grade for this.
Flying Celica should receive a lovely run behind the leaders today, able to peel out and run on in the closing stages. She was sound last time out and another good showing is expected today. Each way claims.
Currently, Flying Celica is a $10 chance in the market.
