Bendigo
Race 3 – Idling Behind
Jockey – Christine Puls
1500m – Barrier 7
Resuming mare Idling Behind is first-up since December when she heads to Bendigo this afternoon. The four-year-old daughter of Astern took a few runs to find form last preparation, finishing a close third at Ararat fourth-up and out to 2200-metres. She kicks off at 1500-metres today, jockey Christine Puls to let her galloper find her feet from a middle gate, likely landing in the second half of the field before looking to find the line late.
Speed comes from Saker Falcon and The Alpha Penguin towards the outside, while expect Jawsome Rob and Jezebel Jenni to hold their positions from nearer the rail. A few with claims here. Just Swift returned with a solid runner-up effort at Pakenham behind Annabelle Sunshine three weeks ago; that runner won again at Moe yesterday. Draws for a soft trail off the speed and will be charging late. One of the main chances. Jawsome Rob is first-up on the back of a pair of jumpout wins. He disappointed when solid in the market on debut last preparation but improved sharply second-up. May want it wet but each way claims today. So too The Alpha Penguin and Saker Falcon. Jezebel Jenni next.
Idling Behind will improve on whatever she does today, better over further and with race fitness under her belt. She’ll be in the second half of the field turning for home, look for her to be warming up late.
Currently, Idling Behind is a $21 chance in the market.
