In-form galloper Em Sixty recorded a special victory on Sunday, fittingly on home soil at Ballarat. The progressive three-year-old was dominant in registering back-to-back wins following his Maiden breakthrough at Swan hill, and in doing so brought up Henry Dwyer Racing’s 500th career winner in a day of celebration.
Jockey John Allen received a late call to take the ride and gave a textbook performance from the mile chute, finding the box seat behind the leaders and peeling off heels at the top of the straight. From there it became a procession, the Smart Missile gelding looming up before taking over at the furlong mark and quickly putting the result beyond doubt. Allen kept his galloper going right to the line, the gap to his rivals ever-increasing as the final margin of 2.75-lengths somewhat flattered the beaten brigade.
Allen was impressed with the performance post-race.
“He relaxed nicely and once we got the the outside he let down and put the race to bed.
“I certainly liked the way he put a bit of distance on them today and won with a bit of authority”.
Henry acknowledged his galloper is still on the up and the best is well and truly yet to come.
“He had another gear or two left to go. He got out there (in front) and got left by himself, which is not ideal for him”, Henry said.
“He’s still putting it all together but I think we’re going to have a nice horse on our hands when he does”.
Em Sixty came through the run in terrific order and will aim at the 1700-metre 3YO Handicap at Flemington on July 19th.
