Three-year-old filly Ms Hubble is knocking firmly on the door when she steps out on the Poly at Ballarat this afternoon. The daughter of Deep Field has been runner-up at her past two starts, leaving significant gaps back to the rest of the field on both occasions at Ballarat and Mildura. Jockey Neil Farley leaves from an inside draw today and can be positive early, looking to land on or outside the speed in the early parts before breaking for home in the straight.
Not a heap of speed in this, with Gift in barrier six the main challenger early, while debutant The Boss Man has shown some gate speed in his jumpouts. Matron Samsing contested stronger Maidens than this in her first campaign, unable to breakthrough but showing some ability. She cruised around in her latest jumpout, no surprise to see her competitive first-up from a spell. Hardest to beat. Gift has improved with all three career runs and should find a forward position without too much trouble. Next best. Each way chances to Wash Ya Mouth Out and The Boss Man.
Ms Hubble has been rock-solid at her past couple and draws for every possible here. She’ll get the right run up near the speed and have a fitness edge on a couple of her main rivals. Strong claims.

In-form galloper Wuddzz stays in Sydney for today’s 2400-metre contest at Randwick’s Kensington circuit. The seven-year-old son of Complacent has been runner-up at both tries north of the river – perhaps with a hard luck to tell – but can make amends in a small field this afternoon. Jockey Dylan Gibbons leaves from gate three and can settle with runners behind him, looking to travel one or two pairs back on settling.
Rattle And Hum will cross the field from the outside barrier in search of the lead from the outset, while expect Casual Connection to kick-up and make him work passing the post for the first time. Casual Connection has beaten Wuddzz both times they’ve met, pinching a break and unable to run down on each occasion. The plan will surely be similar today, will take catching. Sun God went close at this track and trip in April but has been ordinary since. Best efforts have him in this. Rattle And Hum gets his chance from the front, while Ahuriri put in a rare bad one last start. Both with each way claims.
Wuddzz can settle closer to the speed today, leaving less to do in the back end of the race. He gets a 2.5kg weight swing on nemesis Casual Connection and can turn the tables on that galloper with even luck. Strong claims.
