Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

Donald

Race 4 – Mariner Miss

Jockey – Sarah Field

1000m – Barrier 6

Three-year-old filly Mariner Miss resumes off a short let-up at Donald this afternoon. The daughter of Blue Point was just okay in three summer outings, but looked good winning a recent Avoca jumpout in preparation for today’s race. Apprentice hoop Sarah Field leaves from a middle draw and can let her filly settle where comfortable, likely in the first half of the field turning into the home straight.

Speed is good with debutant She’s Excessive showing plenty of early toe in her jumpouts, while expect Light Filled and Runaway Love to roll across from towards the outside and find forward positions into the home bend. Light Filled resumes on the back of a sharp jumpout win, having placed in two of three runs in her debut preparation. She went very close on debut and a similar effort here sees her very hard to beat. First-starter She’s Excessive has plenty of jumpout experience, showing early speed and likely to find the front today. She could prove hard to catch. Each way claims to Smoke Screen who can bounce back following a poor effort at Pakenham last time out. Had been knocking on the door prior.

Mariner Miss has jumped out well ahead of returning to the races today, where she should receive a lovely run from the 1000-metre chute start. She wasn’t far away from a smart one first-up at Mornington on New Year’s Day, a similar effort has her in the each way mix today.

Currently, Mariner Miss is a $21 chance in the market.

Race 6 – Crack A Deel

Jockey – John Allen

2200m – Barrier 7

Three-year-old galloper Crack A Deel looks to bounce back when he gets beyond 2000-metres at Donald this afternoon. The gelded son of Dundeel was good first-up at Swan Hill before a plain effort at Ballarat eleven days ago, unable to make an impact when beaten a big margin in slightly better grade. Jockey John Allen leaves from towards the outside and can look to land more forward today in the long run to the first bend.

Speed is drawn inside with Makusha and My Uncle Did It likely to have the battle for the front between them, while expect Morthan Efficient to be thereabouts on settling. My Uncle Did It has won two on the bounce at this trip and looks to have plenty in his favour again today. He’ll control proceedings from the front and prove hard to run down late. Hardest to beat. Silvasista’s runner-up effort at Caulfield behind Salty Pearl is very strong form for this, however this is her first go beyond a mile. She can bounce back from a forgettable trip to Adelaide, each way claims. So too Aurora Rise, who is suited out in trip, and Morthan Efficient, who is hard fit for recent racing.

Crack A Deel needs to improve on his latest effort and gets blinkers back on to aid him this afternoon. He can to begin cleanly and insert himself into race earlier, expect a better performance if this is the case.

Currently, Crack A Deel is a $13 chance in the market.

Race 6 – Aurora Rise

Jockey – Sarah Field

2200m – Barrier 2

Promising stayer Aurora Rise returns to the races today, four weeks since a sound effort when fourth at Albury. The three-year-old daughter of The Autumn Sun was solid in the Tasmanian Oaks the start prior and ran on well from the tail in a recent Ararat jumpout in preparation for today. Apprentice hoop Sarah Field leaves from an inside draw and can look to begin with them with blinkers applied, able to find a lovely trail behind the speed before running on in the home straight.

My Uncle Did It has won two on the bounce at this trip and looks to have plenty in his favour again today. He’ll control proceedings from the front and prove hard to run down late. Hardest to beat. Aurora Rise is suited out in distance today and draws to receive every chance in the run. She jumped out well in blinkers, expect her to be closing hard late. Strong claims.

Currently, Aurora Rise is a $6.50 chance in the market.
