Race 1 – Boss Boy
Jockey – John Allen
1600m – Barrier 12
Four-year-old galloper Boss Boy gets back out to a mile when he heads to Terang this afternoon. The gelded son of Cable Bay showed an improved effort at Mornington last time out, running into the placings for the first time in a positive indication for today’s race. Jockey John Allen leaves from a wide draw and can be positive early, looking to find cover in the front half of the field in the long run to the first bend.
Speed is drawn towards the outside with Kingsford, Boulder Gold and Bellabama to roll forward and give Boss Boy a cart across from the outset, while expect Princess Sakiko to use the inside alley to punch through and hold her position on settling. Kingsford comes here second-up following a solid runner-up effort at Warrnambool over a month ago. He finished just ahead of Thinking Sensation, who came out and won easily at Donald next time out. Drawn awkwardly but looks the one to beat. Bishop’s Choice is another who is coming off a good first-up effort. He finished second at his only other second-up attempt and draws for a soft trail behind the speed. Next best. Each way chances to Bellabama and Princess Sakiko who will get their chance from up near the speed.
Boss Boy will need even luck from a wide gate early, needing to begin cleanly to find a forward position in the run. He was solid last start, any improvement from that effort sees him a strong each way chance today.
Currently, Boss Boy is a $9.50 chance in the market.

Where Eagles Dare will improve on whatever he does today, better for the run and over more ground later in his preparation. He’ll get back and be given the opportunity to find the line. Look for him to pass a few late.
Currently, Where Eagles Dare is a $51 chance in the market.

Race 1 – Rookery Nook
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1600m – Barrier 6
Improving galloper Rookery Nook is second-up and fitter when he heads to Terang this afternoon. The gelded son of Bivouac found 1400-metres too sharp at Warrnambool when resuming, giving every indication he’ll appreciate the extra distance on offer today. Jockey Mitch Aitken leaves from barrier six and can let his gelding find his feet early, likely to settle in the second half of the field before looking to run on in the home straight.

Race 2 – Petroula
Jockey – John Allen
1400m – Barrier 3
Four-year-old mare Petroula draws favourably for the first time this preparation when she heads to Terang this afternoon. The daughter of Magna Grecia has improved with each run this time in, clearly the best of the closers at Donald a fortnight ago in a race dominated by an all-the-way leader. Jockey John Allen leaves from gate three today and can be positive early, looking to outside or just behind the speed on settling.
Hughie’s Spirit is the likely leader from towards the outside, while expect all of Frosty Night, Moral Turpitude and Watt On Earth to punch through from nearer the rail with Petroula into the bend. Move The Torana has had a freshen-up since back-to-back runner-up efforts at Kilmore and Seymour. She draws the extreme outside in a big field but shapes as one of the main dangers. So too Moral turpitude, who beat Petroula home last start. He had the right run on that occasion but can’t be dismissed here. Each way chances to News Travels Fast and Watt On Earth in a race with a long tail.
Petroula gets her chance with a kind draw today in a very winnable race. She needs to begin cleanly to land in the right spot throughout ad should prove very hard to hold out late. Strong claims to break through.
Currently, Petroula is a $4.20 chance in the market.

Race 4 – Under Control
Jockey – John Allen
1000m – Barrier 8
Three-year-old filly Under control makes her racetrack debut over 1000-metres at Terang this afternoon. The daughter of Churchill has jumped out twice this preparation, leading throughout to win her latest at Ararat, albeit in modest time for the morning. Jockey John Allen leaves from barrier eight today and can let his filly find her feet early, landing where comfortable before hitting the line late.
Mamzelle Raine draws the extreme outside and may look to cross the field and lead from the get-go, while expect all of Miss Lum, I’m Helro, Zanele and Buttercup to be thereabouts on settling. I’m Helro was solid on debut at Horsham when a beaten odds-on favourite. The form from that race has been franked with second and fourth winning since. Hardest to beat. Not much went right for Buttercup last start and pulled up with excuses post-race. She wasn’t far off Big Sexy on debut in April and draws for the right run from the inside alley. Next best. Each way chances to Jack The Boss and Wembley Stadium in a race c cruelled by scratchings.
Under Control will improve on whatever she does today, better for the experience and with race fitness on her side. She should find a nice trail throughout and can be hitting the line late. Each way claims.
Currently, Under Control is a $6.50 chance in the market.

Race 5 – Over The Stars
Jockey – Cian MacRedmond
1000m – Barrier 7
Speedy mare Over The Stars is first-up since September when she heads to Terang this afternoon. The four-year-old daughter of Overshare was in the placings four times from six starts last preparation, including a distant third to Fieldelo when resuming in what has turned out to be a decent form race. Jockey Cia MacRedmond leaves from a middle gate here and ca let his filly settle where comfortable, likely in the first half of the field heading into the home straight.
Speed will be on from the outset with Frose and Fox Man likely to battle for the top throughout, with a host of runners sure to be thereabouts on settling. Foragoodcause will be off the speed and appreciate the solid tempo ahead of him. He’s back in grade following a solid effort at Warrnambool last start when not having the best of luck in the home straight. He’ll be finishing hard and shapes as one of the main chances. Ballynacally built an impressive record in her debut preparation (4:2-2-0) and comes here on the back of a pair of jumpout wins. She’ll be up near the speed and fighting late. Strong claims. Each way chances to Grand Terre, who did enough first-up, and Brave Carol, who is another with sound jumpout form heading into this.
Over The Stars will enjoy the expanses from the chute start today and will strip fitter for the run. She’ll likely put herself somewhere near the speed throughout and look to keep kicking late. Each way claims.
Currently, Over The Stars is a $17 chance in the market.
Terang
Race 8 – Friday At Five
Jockey – Sarah Field
1600m – Barrier 3
Seven-year-old mare Friday At Five returns to the races at Terang today following a freshen-up after the Avoca Cup in October. The daughter of Zoustar went close in a stronger event three starts back, but put in a pair of sub-par efforts subsequently. A recent Ballarat jumpout has her ready for today, apprentice Sarah Field able to land outside the speed throughout before looking to kick in the home straight.
Feargal is the other speed influence in the race, likely to cross from a middle draw and allow Friday At Five to sit outside or just behind throughout. Even affair. Luckett resumes here on the back of a pair of sound jumpouts, the most recent finishing just behind Snitz Sonic over 1500-metres. That galloper has ran third to Different Gravy since. Luckett’s best is over further but no surprise to see him go close here. One of the main chances. Surfy Pete is shooting at a hattrick following wins at Mortlake and Dunkeld. He’s up in trip and grade but is racing in good fashion. Strong each way claims. So too Handy Friend and My Uncle Did It, who will enjoy soft trails midfield or worse and come with their runs late.
Friday At Five will improve from the outing today, better for the run and over more ground next time out. She should find the right run up near the speed and find a kick in the home straight. Each way claims.
Currently, Friday At Five is a $12 chance in the market.
