Morphettville Parks
Race 1 – Wuddzz
Jockey – Will Price
2426m – Barrier 5
Wet track specialist Wuddzz gets conditions to suit on the inner track at Morphettville this afternoon. The gelded son of Complacent was a strong winner on the main circuit two starts back before a solid effort in much stronger company at Flemington last time out, and comes here six weeks since that run. Jockey Will Price leaves from a middle draw and can aim to be positive early, looking to land better than midfield in a race devoid of early speed.
Smiling Assassin and Alekhine’s Gun draw inside Wuddzz and look as likely as any to roll forward, while Crimson Vine may chance her arm from out wider and have a look early on. Just one to beat on recent efforts in the form of Harsh, who was an easy winner on the main track last time out. She needs to turn the tables on Wuddzz from their meeting in June, getting a 1kg weight swing today to help her cause. Racing well and is the obvious danger. Concede and each way chance to Crimson Vine – that about wraps it up.
Wuddzz needs only to hold his recent form to be winning this, the Parks Circuit is the unknown variable he needs to handle. Conditions are in his favour and if he can take up a more forward position in the run, he’ll prove mighty hard to beat.
Currently, Wuddzz is a $3.90 chance in the market.
Warracknabeal
Race 1 – Hello Mistress
Jockey – Jake Duffy
1000m – Barrier 10
Improving galloper Hello Mistress heads to Warracknabeal today looking to go one better than her past two runner-up performances. The four-year-old daughter of Hello Youmzain sat off the leader and eventual winner at Swan Hill last start, having been brave in the lead at Ballarat the start prior, where the third-placed horse has since won its Maiden. Jockey Jake Duffy leaves from an awkward draw today and will need even luck from the outset to find a position somewhere near the rail turning for home.
Speed will be on from the get-go with Azzurri Queen and My on Amie to go fast from the inside, while expect Social Pages and Sandzibar to be thereabouts straightening for home. Azzurri Queen shapes as the one to eat here, having gone close in both career runs to date. She draws to find the front from a soft draw and will take catching late. Sandzibar has trialled well enough to suggest a forward showing is on the cards here, while Social Pages may improve on firmer footing and back in trip. Both with each way claims. Little Medusa next.
Hello Mistress needs to begin cleanly and find her way across the field to be any chance in the home straight. Warracknabeal lends itself to those up near the speed in these sprint races, and with only a short run to the bend everything needs to go right from the start. On level terms, must be considered a winning hope.
Currently, Hello Mistress is a $4.60 chance in the market.
