Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

Caulfield

Race 3 – Salsa Fellow

Jockey – Holly Durnan

1100m – Barrier 3

Four-year-old galloper Salsa Fellow is seven weeks between runs when he returns to Caulfield this afternoon. The gelded son of Blue Point strung a pair of wins together at Terang and Warrnambool before a solid showing in the Gold Topaz at Swan Hill, too far back on that occasion but smashing the line late. Apprentice hoop Holly Durnan claims 3kg and can look to land outside or just behind the speed heading into the home bend.

Not a great deal of speed in this; expecting Tennessee Bound to hold the front from gate one, while Behaviour may elect to roll across from out wider and apply some early pressure. Tennessee Bound is five from five in her career to date and is clearly the one to beat here. She’s won both times this campaign with something in hand and should receive every chance from on-speed again. Up in grade the only possible knock. Luna Cat has been racing in terrific fashion of late and can run a place.

Salsa Fellow will appreciate any rain between now and race time and is aided y the apprentice claim today. He’s run well fresh before and could have the last crack here. Each way claims.

Currently, Salsa Fellow is an $11 chance in the market.

Randwick

Race 6 – Nishino Crescent

Jockey – Ash Morgan

1800m – Barrier 6

Comeback galloper Nishino Crescent is third-up and fitter when he gets out to 1800-metres at Randwick this afternoon. The gelded son of Satono Aladdin was sixteen months between runs when he resumed at Swan Hill in June before a luckless effort at Pakenham four weeks ago, where he would’ve finished much closer with a clear passage late. Jockey Ash Morgan leaves from a middle gate today and can find cover midfield before looking to run on in the home straight.

Speed is solid enough with Yam and Tambeloa to drive forward in search of the front early, while expect Inquiring Minds and Sly Boots to be thereabouts on settling. Tricky race. Tambeloa had a freshen-up after getting beaten a big margin in the Rough Habit Plate, going well in two runs since and drawn to find the front here. He can bowl along and give them something to catch in the run home, one of the main chances. Perfect Justice is racing in terrific fashion and should receive a lovely trail just behind the speed. He’ll be closing late, each way claims. So too Sly Boots, who’s back in grade for this, and Yam, who’ll appreciate any rain throughout the day.

Nishino Crescent improved sharply second-up last start and is suited out to 1800-metres this afternoon. If he can settle in the run somewhere off the speed he’ll have plenty to offer turning for home. Look for him late.

Currently, Nishino Crescent is a $21 chance in the market.

Randwick

Race 8 – Electric Impulse

Jockey – Nash Rawiller

1600m – Barrier 1

Talented mare Electric Impulse stays at a mile when she heads to Randwick for the first time this afternoon. The six-year-old daughter of Cable Bay has been sound in three runs this preparation, coming back a notch in grade for this following a strong showing in the Winter Championship Final at Flemington last start when beaten a just over a length. Jockey Nash Rawiller has a tricky job from the inside alley today, likely to land somewhere midfield before looking for room on the home bend.

Speed is only just in the early parts with Lugh and The Creator to roll across from the outside and likely to find the front together, while Poison Chalice and Seven’s can find trailing positions just in behind. Narbold ran on well from the tail here last start and is suited out to a mile today. He can settle closer off a steadier tempo, shapes as the one to beat. Micky’s Medal beat a swag of these home last start so logically comes into calculations. Each way claims. So too Seven’s, who draws for a lovely trail behind the leaders.

Electric Impulse only needs to hold her current form to give this a real shake this afternoon. If she gets the breaks at the right time, she’ll prove mighty hard to hold out late. Strong claims.

Currently, Electric Impulse is a $6 chance in the market.
