Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

Caulfield

Race 5 – Different Gravy

Jockey – Mark Zahra

2000m – Barrier 5

In-form galloper Different Gravy looks to back-up his scintillating last start win when he heads to Caulfield this afternoon. The gelded son of Ghaiyyath settled rearward from a wide gate at Flemington on Cup Day, hooking widest before unleashing a powerful finish to take out the Batman Stakes with plenty in hand on the line. Out to 2000-metres today looks ideal, jockey Mark Zahra able to take closer order from a better draw today and leave less to do at the back end around this tighter metropolitan circuit.

Speed is just okay in the early parts, expecting Za Za Best to use the inside to hold the front throughout, while no surprise to see Gold Topaz and Brave Danza find forward positions on settling. Snitz Sonic won an Echuca maiden at a very short quote, a race that has produced multiple subsequent winners. He finished within four lengths of Different Gravy last start, badly held up in the home straight before picking up late and hitting the line well. With even luck he could prove hardest to beat today. Brave Danza and Gold Topaz finished second and fourth respectively behind Different Gravy at Flemington, the latter banking a confidence boosting win at Bordertown in the interim. Both with each way claims. Call Da Vinci brings an alternate formline behind the red-hot Sheza Alibi, where he was well beaten but probably should’ve finished closer. Next best. Kaleo and Za Za Best with minor claims.

Different Gravy put a space on some key rivals last time out and looks to have only improved from that effort. Out in trip should pose no problems – with even luck he’ll prove mighty hard to beat.

Currently, Different Gravy is a $2.15 chance in the market.
