Brazen Beau mare Black Cherry returns to Pakenham Synthetic today, three weeks after a solid effort there to claim third place at 1400-metres. The four-year-old galloper made good ground in the home straight behind an all-the-way leader on that occasion and out to a mile looks an ideal set-up today. Jockey Ben Allen leaves from towards the outside and can look to slot in midfield with cover, leaving plenty in the bank for the run home.
Speed comes from the inside with Mariner’s Dream and Pick Wisely to punch forward from the outset, while expect You Never Can Tell to roll across from deeper to find a prominent position in the run. Pick Wisely has been solid at both runs on heavy ground this time in, leaving a gap to third when runner-up at Swan Hill three weeks ago. Can enjoy an ideal run throughout and prove hard to pass late. Strong claims. You Never Can Tell and Phoenician finished alongside each other at this track/trip last start, though suspect there’s more upside to the former. Each way claims the pair. Red Feathers next best, up to 1600-metres for the first time.
Black Cherry is racing in consistent fashion and back out to a mile looks to suit today. She should receive a lovely run throughout and have plenty to offer turning for home. Winning hope.
