Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday Preview

Pakenham

Race 3 – Mariner Miss

Jockey – Neil Farley

1100m – Barrier 8

Three-year-old filly Mariner Miss crosses town this afternoon when she lines up at Pakenham over 1100-metres. The daughter of Blue Point has been solid in two runs back from a let-up, making good ground at Donald on both occasions and suited slightly up in trip today. Jockey Neil Farley leaves from towards the outside and can look to find cover midfield or worse, before running on to challenge in the home straight.

Speed is drawn to the inside with debutants Frozen Princess and Superior Dame showing good speed in their respective jumpouts, while expect Thankful Smile and Salaria to be somewhere close turning for home. Salaria was game chasing an odds-on pop at Cranbourne last start, beaten under half-a-length and leaving a big gap to the rest of the field. The third-placed runner has since gone close at Sale. A similar effort here sees Salaria as the one to beat. Superior Dame has jumped out well for her debut and has the early speed to hold the front from a low draw. Raceday is a different scenario but she looks to have ability. Strong claims. Each way chances to Macca’s Angel and Frozen Princess.

Mariner Miss gets blinkers for the first time tonight and does bump into a couple of smart types. If she can settle in the run she can wind up to have the last crack. Each way claims.

Currently, Mariner Miss is a $19 chance in the market.
