New-season four-year-old Three Reed Roses is six weeks between runs when she heads to Geelong this afternoon. The daughter of Highland Reel was a narrow runner-up at Ballarat last time out and, frustratingly, has seen two meetings abandoned in her quest to go one better. Jockey Neil Farley leaves from an ideal gate and can settle forward in the run, likely to find cover just behind the leaders heading into the back.
Little speed to speak of in this, perhaps Ocean Symphony rolls across from a wide gate to find the top, while Bernie Beel may elect to punch forward from the inside alley. Moderate event. Ranselot had been solid in two runs heading into Murtoa a fortnight ago, having no luck there when held up and only out when the race was over. She was only fair when clear but shapes as the main danger here with even luck. Ocean Symphony looks the only other chance in the race, likely to e able to control the race from the front. His two efforts at Warracknabeal were good before a miss on the Hamilton heavy. Hard to make a case for the others.
Three Reel Roses finds a very winnable race today, however six weeks since her last run is the query. She should receive a lovely run throughout and does bring the best form into the race. Strong claims.
